Beefsteak tomatoes grow on indeterminate vines which need to be staked to hold the 10 oz to 2 lb tomatoes. Meaty, juicy, and bright, this makes an excellent slicer.

- Tip: A good tip I've found is to use old bed sheets (tear into strips) to hold vines to steaks; as string will cut the vine.

Determinate. The classic sauce and paste tomato. Meaty interiors, juicy paste, and few seeds. A mid-season crop, ripening in 2-3 weeks.

- Tip: To increase yield, fertilize at first fruit and water deeply once a week during dry weather.

Tomatillos are easy to maintain. They are rangy and should not need to be caged, and do not require rich soil or fertilization. Tomatillos require a long growing season. They can be harvested once the fruits have become plump and the outer husk begins to dry out.

- Growth: 3"-4" tall.
- Tip: They need at least 8 hours of direct sun daily, and will develop faster with increased exposure. If possible, grow on a slight slope with southern or southeastern exposure.

The plump bulbs are mild with white flesh, producing a jumbo bulb with papery-brown skin. It is a fast growing crop and tolerates mildew and thrips.

- Tip: Needs a light friable soil to grow successfully. Start in early spring, scatter seeds in tray 1/4"- 1/2" apart in moist soil and put in warm place. Transplant out 8-10 weeks later in final spacing.

A Versatile onion suitable to grow in any region. Large and sweet. Bulb is pure white and firm. Pull out when tops fall over and skin develops.

True jalapeño flavor with medium heat. It is a sturdy, 2' plant producing 2'-3' pepper quite generously. Add a zesty, spicy kick to your salsas, burritos or pickling.

- Tip: The seedlings like warmth, don't transplant until soil is at least 65+ degrees.
